Be careful of the faux friends. These are the ones who like to pretend they've got your best interests at heart -- but really don't. They are usually single and a bit bossy, and they don't really want anyone to be happier, prettier, skinnier, or tanner than they are. They may not even know they are doing it, but they will steer you in the wrong direction and give you bad advice. Also, when you are in a relationship and have questions, remember it's not time to take a public poll of what everyone thinks you need to do. Talk to one, two, or at most three of your closest friends -- don't let word get out that you're worried about relationship issues, because you don't want word to get back to your sweetie.

Ellen G: "To add to what you and Evan said, one of my friends told me one time to remember that the people I work with are my co-workers, not my friends."
