A Question From My Dear Reader

Judy K. When did it become the "norm" to send out wedding invitations 3 months before the wedding? I can understand mailing an invitation early to those who might need to travel a great distance, but otherwise, isn't one month proper? Have times changed so much that the bride needs 2 months time to let the caterer know how many will be attending?

    • Manners Matter Oh my, you are correct with the timing of mailing out wedding invitations. There are "Save the Date" announcements that have become in vogue because of Martha Stewart. As a past manager of banquets at the Hilton and The Simsbury Inn, catering and chefs need this information closer to the event. I will just say Save the Date and respond yea or nay now if you plan to attend. ;) you've got lots of time to shop and plan your attire;)

    • Judy K. Got the save the date card about 6 months ago. I'll have to respond nay since I have no idea what will be going on with us in two months. Better a nay than a yes and then not show up I'm guessing.

    • Manners Matter Yay to the nay. Maybe the couple is just very excited.

    • Evan P. Unfortunately, our society lost manner's guru Ann and Abby Lander's etc!! Manner's and etiquette are lost, and endangered!!
